Yes, its is common for a woman to not bleed the first time she has sex. Women bleed because of the breaking of the hymen which is a tissue that covers the opening of the vagina. Your hymen can break or tear during various activities like sports or bicycle riding so that is why you may not have bled during your first sexual encounter. 

 There is absolutely no reason why you should share your sexual activity with your best friends. It is you and your boyfriend’s secret to keep if you want.
