Lets Talk about Sex!

I don’t know if it’s a problem, why do I have so much hair down there? Should I just shave it?

Dear Hair-Down-There,

Most girls and boys have a lot of hair down there so you’re not alone. There are a few theories as to why we have pubic hair. Some theorize that it helps to keep the genitals warm; some think that it is to prevent dirt from entering the vagina. The most interesting theory is that it helps to lock in sexually- stimulating scents called pheromones, which most insect species use to attract mates.

Are you concerned about your hair down there because you have a boyfriend or are sexually active? Most girls start becoming conscious of their pubic hair when they start becoming intimate with their partners. Does your partner comment on it or show disgust? It is really up to you what you want to do about it. Some girls shave it, others wax it and some trim it, and others just leave it as it is. Just know that whatever you do, it is not a permanent solution because it will grow back and when it does, it can get rather uncomfortable.
